What You Need To Know About Our Massages
How our massages work
This page explains how our massage therapists treat at the Living Centre Clinic in Wimbledon and why it is different. Our massage therapy is rooted in clinical precepts that provide a deeper level of benefit.
Therapeutic Massage
There may be times when you feel in-between “normal” and “injured”. Often it’s at that in-between time that you can avoid developing a bigger problem. Patients often tell me that just before their back ‘went’ they felt out of alignment or they were experiencing some form of tightness or tension
A therapeutic massage is an ideal way to safely release stress & tension before it becomes a problem. Using advanced knowledge of the body, our professional massage-therapists identify and remove the stress-spots that may hold tension. We know that where the tension is, is not always where the problem is. With treatment over a few visits the underlying issue has an opportunity to heal. (Of course if a client is suffering from pain at the same time we always recommend osteopathy instead).
Stress Massage
Physical tension can also be a result of a stress response. Sometimes we all work long hours or encounter stressful situations. Releasing tension can be a helpful way to reduce muscular stress, mental stress and aid relaxation. For some clients it can also help promote better sleep. Perhaps that’s why they’re so many people who prefer a full body massage to conventional stress-management therapy.
Posture Massage
Tension can also arise as a result of poor posture. We can get ‘locked’ into a posture. It can then be challenging to get out that posture – so a vicious circle develops. A prime example of this is the posture we adopt on a PC. Therapeutic massage is an excellent way of releasing such postures, bringing relief and flexibility, and for many a lifted mood! Physical tension is inextricably linked to the mind. In fact this is a two-way relationship as one affects the other. By working with soothing strokes or deep pressure-points we can help restore body and mind to better health.
Advanced Training
Knowing the body, where to work, how much pressure to apply, and what length of time to work is an acquired skill. This is where our specialist massage-therapists come into their own.
Beyond Massage
At our clinic I give additional training to our massage therapists beyond their standard massage training. I share my soft-tissue skills as an osteopath and give direction on managing simple strains that don’t always need a qualified osteopath.
This provides our massage therapists with additional skills. My confidence in our team is supported by the referrals I make to our massage team. I have over 55,000 osteopathy treatments personally to my name. So you can be assured that when I send my patients to another therapist, I need to be certain they will receive the same standard of excellence.
The Massage Room
In the massage room, our massage therapists create a special place to relax and be safe in. From the moment you step into the room you will feel the calmness. A short case-history also helps the therapist to work out the best massage programme for you. You can then lie on the massage plinth and relax.
I believe this is one of the best massage centres in Wimbledon, Raynes Park and New Malden areas. I invite you to try for yourself.
